Institute Scholarships for Students and Teachers

 

Fred Stout Memorial Scholarship - In honor of one of our well-loved Suzuki piano teachers who passed away in 2003, the SASA board of directors voted to designate one of these scholarships as the "Fred Stout Memorial Scholarship". This fund is open to any Suzuki student on any instrument attending the Southcentral Alaska Suzuki Institute.

Scholarship application process

Scholarships will be offered to highly qualified candidates based on the following criteria:

  • Financial needs of the applicants
  • Musical or teaching ability of the applicant demonstrated through videotape or audition
  • Programming needs of the institute
 

Scholarship policies

  • SASA offers a limited number of scholarships to attend the SASA Institute
  • The family must volunteer for minimum of five hours during the institute. Teacher recipients must volunteer for 3 hours during the institute. You will be contacted concerning volunteer opportunities.
  • Scholarships will be awarded based on musical/teaching ability as well as financial need.
  • A family must fill in a separate application for each child.  Each teacher applicant must fill out the teacher form.
  • SASA may award a full or partial scholarship.
  • A student or teacher who gets a scholarship must wait out one year before applying again.
  • All application information will be held in the strictest confidence by the SASA scholarship committee.
